WHAT HAPPENED?
Shaw's goal in the 20th minute of their clash against Washington Spirit gave Casey Stoney's side the lead in a game that ended 1-1 at Audi Field thanks to Croix Bethune's 96th-minute equaliser. The goal was her 13th in the NWSL which made her the highest-scoring teenager in the division's history, taking the record from USWNT's Rodman, as per OptaJack.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Shaw has already become a regular with the USWNT as she has scored seven goals in 14 appearances. She is likely to be named in the Olympics squad by Emma Hayes as she looks forward to her first official tournament with the USWNT.

DID YOU KNOW?
Shaw joined San Diego Wave in the summer of 2022 and has already made 34 appearances for the side. In August 2023, the 19-year-old signed a multi-year contract with Wave through to the 2026 season.

San Diego Wave have had a poor start to their season as they currently sit ninth in NWSL standings. Regardless, they will look to return to winning ways when they take on Gotham NY/NJ on June 19.
